Synopsis
A young Irish terrorist named Frankie is one of the top members of the IRA. He journeys to America under the alias of Rory, with the plan to ship a large amount of weapons back to his country. While there, he stays with a police officer in New York who doesn't know his true identity. But things start to go wrong when Frankie's weapon dealer becomes anxious for the money, and Tom is starting to figure out who his houseguest really is.

Summary
'The Devil's Own' is absolutely amazing. Despite the objections some people have, the accents are great. The film is a touching one, and also very exciting. There is a major controversy over the story, however, since throughout the movie you can't help but root for the terrorist, whom you come to love and not see as a bad guy at all. The ending is very good, and the entire plot just has what it takes to be the outstanding film it is. It's hard to find anything to say about this film, except that if you haven't seen it, you really should go out and do so.

Notable Quotes

"Hey Rory, are you Irish all born hard-asses or do you grow into it?" -- Burke

"Here is it, the Irish Republican Navy." -- Frankie

"You son of a bitch, you brought them into our house!" -- Tom

"Hey Goldilocks, you got the time?" -- Sean

"Did they catch the f*ckers?" -- Tom
"They were the f*ckers." -- Rory

"Don't look for a happy ending. It's not an American story. It's an Irish one." -- Frankie

"I understand why he's doing what he's doing. If I had to endure what he's endured - if I was eight years old and saw my father gunned down in front of my family, I'd be carrying a gun too. And I wouldn't be wearing a badge." -- Tom

Reviews

Stygian Films: "Brad and Harrison make a great pair in this highly thrilling and emotional film."

Orange Source: "The lush cinematography brings the beauty of Ireland and the grittiness of New York's streets to brilliant life, while James Horner's subtle film score adds depth. As for the actor's performances, they were both impressive. I found Harrison Fordıs portrayal a stand-out, providing one of his finest film moments."

Bill & Beth: "...recommend it as cinema worth seeing."

Roger Ebert: "Even in a final confrontation, they're so convincing that only later do we ask ourselves, hey, did Devaney really plan to sail across the North Atlantic Ocean in a leaky old tugboat?"

Flick Filosopher: " This is one movie that's been sticking with me -- I may have to watch it again before the tape goes back to Blockbuster."

Los Angeles Times: "If you've got Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt, do you really need a coherent script?"
