Synopsis
A guard working on the prison block for men on death row (called the Green Mile) is confronted with an enormous but gentle black man that possesses a healing power which could only be a gift of god. But only the guards working the mile know of his innocence, and that's not nearly enough to save his life....
Summary
An outstanding movie with an amazing cast, 'The Green Mile' is long but most definitely worth while. You see a typical Tom Hanks performance (expectedly great) opposite a great many significant others - Doug Hutchison does a good job as the super-sadist guard Percy, and Sam Rockwell's crazy performance as Billy the Kid is absolutely outrageous and by far his best character yet. Michael Duncan is emotional and plays his part very well, ever adding to the mystical effect of the film, and the other actors are, of course, well chosen for their roles.
The movie makes good use of CGI and the story of Paul Edgecomb and John Coffey is touching, eerie, and intense. Endearing characters like Michael Jeter's Eduard Delacroix make it all worthwhile, and though it may be two tapes long, it's gripping all the way through. Do NOT miss out on this awesome adaptation of Stephen King's serial novel.
