Synopsis
The story of a small time criminal teenager, his newfound love, and the life-changing events that take place and throw him into the adult world. When he meets Melena his life becomes something it never was....but his boys aren't ready to let go, and rather than grow with him away from the crime scene, they'd rather fall deeper into it and hit the big times.

Summary
'Hurricane Streets' is a dark but excellent movie featuring Brendan Sexton III (who recently co-starred in 'Boys Don't Cry'), that depicts life in New York City and the trouble most unloved teens suffer through. It's a beautifully shot film that gives its audience a look at the more upsetting side of life, and will stay with you long after it's over.

Reviews

Stygian Films: "A great, revolutionary movie only certain people can enjoy....others will turn away in disgust, not ready to see the things this film is waiting to show."

FileThirteen: "What is truly amazing is that this film backdrops this sweet "Romeo and Juliet" style romance against the verisimilitude of modern urban existence."

San Francisco Chronicle: "As Marcus, Sexton is likable and gives a passable novice's performance. But the film is such a loser that it's hard to get a clear idea of the potential of anybody in it."

eFilmCritic: "The strength of this film lies in its ability to mix the grit of the streets with a low key sense of hope. With it Freeman shows us that even the bad kids aren't all bad."

Rough Cut: "In fact, Hurricane Streets works best as a vehicle for Sexton's surprising talents, as a showcase for his simultaneously battered yet resilient, roguish face."

E! Online: "A flawless, heartfelt performance from Sexton (the bully in Welcome to the Dollhouse) lends a gritty credibility that radiates throughout this cast of young veterans and gifted first timers."

New York Times: "Sexton, who was so memorably mixed up in "Welcome to the Doll House," is even better here as a bundle of confusion trying desperately to hold himself together while slowly falling apart."

Hollywood.com: "Realistic, unsentimental acting of relative unknowns highlights this excellent first feature from writer-director Freeman (not to be confused with the actor), who puts both angst and hope into his story."
