Summary
'A River Runs Through It' is no more or less a masterpiece. The acting is excellent, and the story - though in essence, plain enough - is beautiful and done very well on screen. The nature scenes are gorgeous, making you appreciate the great outdoors, and the events that occur make you think about life in general and how special it really is. Featuring Brad Pitt and Craig Shefford as two brothers with opposite personalities, this is a classic film that you have to see if you haven't already.

Reviews

Stygian Films: "This is truly a work of art. Robert Redford just iht it with one of the best films he's ever made. A River Runs Through It is an instant classic, that uses nature and appearance to show how life really is."

Roger Ebert: "...they understand that the Reverend Maclean's lessons were about how to behave no matter what life brings; about how to wade into the unpredictable stream and deal with whatever happens with grace, courage and honesty. It is the film's best achievement that it communicates that message with such feeling."

James Berardinelli: "Watching A River Runs Through It is a little like leafing through an old photograph album. It conjures up feelings and images, many of them bittersweet, and all of them nostalgic. This is one of those motion pictures that truly transports you to another time and another place."

Washington Post: "Redford delivers reverent passage after passage about fishing and unspoken feelings."

FilmHead: "In so many films, the audience is presented characters who are one-dimensional. That is not the case in A River Runs Through It. Each character is fully developed, with Pitt particularly noteworthy."
