Synopsis
A group of high school hackers stumble upon the plan of a crooked computer genius, who has set up a terrible virus to throw people off track of his worm, which is slowly stealing an incredible amount of money and transferring it to a secret account. They have to evade his clever attacks, and escape from an FBI agent that has sworn to take them down.

Summary
This is a really great movie that definitely didn't get the credit it deserves. 'Hackers' is entertaining and thrilling, with likable characters played by a good cast, and a story that doesn't get old. Though the maneuvers these computer crackers use in the movie are extremely far off from real life hacking, cracking and phreaking, the film is still very good and holds your interest all the way through. It's funny and exciting, and definitely worth while. The average moviemaniac will find it well done, and hackers, though they may laugh at the technicalities, will certainly enjoy the message.

"Man, I thought you was black!" -- Lord Nikon

"Now, I'm trying to save you from yourself but you gotta stop lettin' your mama dress you, man." -- Phreak

"So what's your interest in Kate Libby? Academic? Purely sexual?" -- Phreak
"Homicidal." -- Dade

Reviews

Stygian Films: "Hackers is a very entertaining and flashy movie that doesn't get old, no matter how many times you watch it."

Movie Web: "A fast-paced cyberpunk thriller, HACKERS delivers a humorous and sobering wake-up call to the computer generation of the '90s concerning the enormous power at their fingertips."

Roger Ebert: "The movie is smart and entertaining, then, as long as you don't take the computer stuff very seriously. I liked the way The Plague created a virus designed to catch his enemies. And I liked the way Kate told Dade, "I don't do dates," early in the film. That put their relationship on a footing that neatly avoided several obligatory scenes of teenage love cliches."

USA Today: "To its credit, Hackers recalls the pumped-up energy of Pump Up the Volume, as well as its casting prowess. Miller has a computer junkie's pallor, but the camera still takes to him; Jolie has unconventionally attractive looks and a pleasing don't-bug-me manner."
