Summary
'Interview With the Vampire' is a goddamn classic that everyone should have at least heard of, if not seen. The film is brilliant and has a great cast that works perfectly. Despite initial controversy, Cruise makes an excellent Lestat, and Kirsten Dunst enters the movie world with a knockout performance as Claudia. Brad Pitt does a good job as the internally conflicted Louis. Yes, the film is bloody....but it's a film well worth watching.

Notable Quotes

"I assume I need no introduction. Oh Louis, Louis....still whining, Louis. Do you mind? I've had to listen to this for centuries." -- Lestat

"How did you do that?" -- Malloy
"The same way you do it. A series of simple gestures. Only I moved too fast for you to see. I'm flesh and blood, you see. But I'm not human. I haven't been human for over two hundred years." -- Louis

"Which one of you did it? Which one of you made me the way I am?!" -- Claudia

"Is this what you want? You like being food for the immortal?!" -- Louis

Reviews

Stygian Films: "...a beautiful but horrifying film that all vampire fans will love."

Hollywood.com: "...popular, atmospheric chiller."

Colossus: "Interview with the Vampire has the right look. Atmosphere may not be everything, but its importance cannot be understated. With its gothic settings, superlative makeup (by Stan Winston), and sterling miniatures work, this film can claim visuals nearly on par with those of Kenneth Branagh's stylish Frankenstein. There are other parallels between these films, not the least of which is their equally erratic pacing. However, Interview's plot is probably more coherent and its characters somewhat better realized. There are flaws to be found here -- even for those not specifically looking -- but for the simple horrific pleasure offered, they can be set aside, if not entirely ignored."

The Zone: "This film has a very dark and morbid tone, with a lot of black humor. The look back through time was very well done. The sets and the atmosphere for all of the various time periods was authentic."

Spliced Online: "If you have the stomach for it, "Interview with the Vampire" shouldn't be missed."
